The F3R-conversion

After having already equipped   my Clio  with a new engine, it was now time for my winter-Super5.
The car was originally a "Campus" (year 1990) with the 1.4l-engine (C3J) and Cat, the car did run already at this time about 120,000km. this engine (43kW/60hp) was not so bad, but very weak compared to my Clio
The best engine for my Super5 seemed to be the 2.0l 8v-engine (F3R), because the modifications to implantate it, were kept low (compared to a 16v-conversion), but it has anyway 83kW/114hp and a big torque from low rpm. Also it looks not against the 115hp version of the GT Turbo:

The engine that finally found the way into my car was the F3R-723 engine of a 1994 Laguna, combined with the gearbox of a   R5 GTX (JB3-024)  . This gearbox with its long gear-ratio is working very harmonic with the powerfull 2l-engine. The driveshafts were also from a R5 GTX.

For fitting the engine in the Super5 some modifications were necessary:

- Exhaustmanifold, connecting pipe, catalytic converter, and hose between throttle and airfilter-box from Clio RSi.
- Airfilterbox from R25 V6 (from GTE works also)
- Alternator bracket and belt from R5 GTE

and because my base-car was only a 1,4l I needed aditionally:

- Radiator (Fan from Kangoo DCi with selfmade bracket), hoses and watertank from R5 GTE
- Muffler mid-section from R5 GTE (series)
- Rear muffler from R5 GTX (series)

this loks like that:

For keeping the multi-purpose character of the car, I lifted it for about 30mm.
This was possible by using components of the Extra 1,9D
At the front axle I used its springs and dampers, and the vented 238x20mm breake system of the GT Turbo.
At the back side, I installed the the complete rear-axle of the Extra 1,9D, the bigger drums (inside diameter 200mm) und the breake-force distributer. The dampers are from the R21...see the pic  The breaking performance with this components is sufficient
I installed Nankang-tires (NE826) in size 165/70R13 79H, on steel wheels in 5,5x13 ET36 and also all around 20mm aluminium spacers.

Inside only a Fuego Turbo steering wheel shows the power......

Thanks to all that helped me!!! This car is TÜV homologated!
