SALZBURG     HEUTAL

The HEUTAL can be reached by car from a turnoff near UNKEN, but i prefer to hike in from
Germany from the
LAUBAU area near RUHPOLDING. To the border it's an easy 90 minutes
hike, from the
STAUBFALL to the HEUTAL another 30 minutes. This falls are all located
between the
STAUBFALL and the HEUTAL. I have shot most of this pics in July 2000.
Staub Fall

This fall is very popular
by tourists.

  Staubfall   The STAUBFALL
is a border-fall bet-
ween Germany
and Austria. The
trail leads under
the fall. The total
height of the fall is
around 200 meters
but visible is only
about 80 to 100
meters.

After walking thru STAUBFALL it is a
20 to 30 minutes walk along the river
to the
FISCHBACHFALL . If you come
from the
HEUTAL you will reach this
fall first.
Right: the
FISCHBACHFALL is ab-
out 20m (65ft.) high, there is access
to the bottom of the falls.

On the trail between the STAUBFALL and the FISCHBACHFALL are some small waterfalls

The cascade on the left can be seen easy from
the trail, to the fall above you have to climb down
to the river, to the wide fall below you must also
climb down to the river. All falls are just minutes
away from the

On the forest road between HEUTAL
and WINKLMOOS is the UNKEN-
BACHFALL
located. You can find
the fall near the
SCHWARZBERG-
KLAMM
under a bridge that crosses
the river. Best to reach from
WINKL-
MOOS
(Bavaria) in one hour; height
is 15 to 20 meters (50 ft.). If you hike
from
WINKLMOOS follow the sign
to the
SCHWARZBERGKLAMM,
this is an easy hike, after a sharp
turn you will cross the
UNKENBACH
river, there you can see the fall from
the bridge, do get to the photo point
you have to climb down to the river.
I have shot the picture in July 2001.
